Track my weightloss

I survived a 10k!
Despite the way my body feels today, I am super pumped about my accomplishment yesterday. I (mostly) ran the Swedish Sumerun 10k, that's 6.2 miles! I've been training through a weight watchers program for the past 2 months and we finally tested our abilities. I was the only runner in the training group, everyone else walked, and I was the only one to do the 10k. Downside of signing up for the Swedish run, was that it took place on First Hill and Capital Hill....please note the HILL part of the these locations. The race started off heading north on Minor and then we made a turn down Seneca, that was the first of the hills, but we were heading down it so I didn't mind. Then the course headed north through much of Capital Hill with little to no hills until we hit the 2 mile marker and then we headed down 3 huge hills, again not bad going down, but I feared what this meant in the near future. I was "rewarded" at the 3 mile marker when we turned onto the historic Interlaken Blvd. Basically an old curvy road that's super fun to drive down, but painful to run up. I took that as an opportunity to speed walk for a mile (that's right it was a mile long!). When I reached the top it was mostly smooth sailing for the final 2.4 miles. It was so awesome crossing that finish line at my goal time of 1 hour and 15 minutes. That's just under a 12 minute mile. To put this in perspective the lady that won 1st in the 10k race did it in 40 minutes or a 6min 15 second average mile speed......I would have loved to see her take that mile long hill, I bet it was amazing to watch. And as if that wasn't enough punishment for the day, I had two basketball games in the evening (without subs). All I want to do today is take an ice bath, but I'm still proud of myself! Next goal is to walk a 1/2 marathon. Sara and I will be signing up for the Super Jock 'n Jill 1/2 marathon in Woodinville September 7th for anyone intersted in joining us (you can register online at www.superjocknjill.com $55 if you register by 8/16).

Life's getting in the way....
Shame on me, I haven't done a very good job keeping up the new posts. Work has recently picked up, which is good, but it takes away from my blogging time ;)
Unfortunately, the past two weeks have not been productive weight loss weeks. I weighed in last Thursday and was up 3 lbs :( Perhaps its the fact that I have stopped tracking points and have been consuming baked goods at an alarming rate. Huh, go figure.
It's really important that I re-frame my thoughts on food and start thinking about how to get back on track with the plan. Just in time for the 4th of July weekend, great. I'm going to be realistic...I'm not going to have great weight loss over the weekend, but I can certainly attempt to lose those 3lbs from last week.
Since I get Thursday off, I'm going to miss my weekly weigh-in day so I'm setting the following goals for Thursday the 9th:
First, I need to start tracking points again. With out borders I've gone a bit wild.
Second, increase my exercise (there was a lull between soccer and basketball seasons and I could have used those exercise points).
Third, limit the caloric intake over the weekend to a reasonable amount without limiting fun :)
Finally, the hope is that I will "re-lose" those 3lbs so that I'm back on track for the remainder of July.

Blame Mother Nature ;)
I just got back from weighing in, and I'm up .4 lbs to put me at 202 lbs. I can't blame a change in clothes weight since my outfit last week and this week both weighed in at 1.2lbs. But I can blame mother nature for blessing me this week. This means next week's weigh in should be great!
I'm mentally preparing for the coming week, we have a few lunch/dinner things over the weekend, but I feel like I'll be able to splurge at one and keep the other two under wraps. I've got lots of stuff planned to keep me active: walking, cleaning, basketball, and soccer. And I'm having lots of fun trying out new recipes and using all the neat veggies in our New Roots delivery.

I wanted to share a very tasty recipe with you. I whipped this up last night after my workout at Greenlake. What's so great is you can make a bunch of the dressing in advance and have it on hand in your fridge, so when you are ready you can toss together whatever tasty veggies you have on hand and you're ready to eat. For you cilantro-haters beware the dressing has a strong flavor.
I have to be honest, this past weekend was tough. Whatever the scale says on Thursday I'm blaming the cakes! We had an anniversary and birthday celebration and the desserts just didn't stop coming. All my other eating habits were acceptable. So now I'm getting back into the right frame of mind to conquer the rest of the week, and hopefully I can still sneak in a small loss, or at least maintain.

Hip Hip Hooray!
What a great week, being back on track has sure been successful! Even with the weekend splurges, I lost 4.6 pounds this week! It's such a great feeling to finally have a good week on the scale after so many blah months/years. (Current weight 201.6, clothes weight 1.2)
I'm going to let this momentum carry me through the weekend, but I'm going to have some obstacles to overcome:
Friday/Saturday - We'll be at my parents house, dad's planning to BBQ, and my mom's a bit of a food pusher. I don't anticipate the point intake to be as high as last weekend, but I'm going to have to work very hard to keep track of my points and keep moving. Thankfully it is still going to be nice this weekend.

One step back, and two forward
As feared this weekend rapidly got out of hand. Between our fabulous dinner at the Met on Friday and couch surfing with Sara on Saturday I devoured all my workout points for the week and my 35 weekly bonus points and then some. So had I been sedentary I would have consumed about 2.5 extra days worth of points...that's not helpful to the waste line! Lucky for me I stayed very active this week, and with all this hot weather those splurge points aren't going to hurt me on the scale on Thursday.
Accomplishments:
1. I officially signed up for the November Seattle 1/2 marathon walk on Saturday, and may be signing up for a second 1/2 marathon in September...anyone interested in joining me?????
2. My walk to run training group started up Monday evening and the group is really motivated to get in shape and lose weight (they are all WW members too). We'll be running the Swedish 5K at the end of July together (maybe even the 10k depending on how the training goes).
I'm very excited to weigh in tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed for me and hopefully I can report good news tomorrow!

Motivating Strategy
As promised today was a weigh in day, drum roll please....
I weighed in at 206.2 (Less 2lbs of clothes, I weighed them this morning. I'll be tracking the WW scale as well as my clothes weight because they can vary so much from week to week due to weather conditions in WA).
Obviously not thrilled about that number, but I'm inspired to change and I know those excess pounds are going to start slipping away quickly. This weeks WW meeting was so approrpiate, "Motivating strategy." I've already laid out my goals and I can't wait to reach them, now I just need to continually focus on these current feelings I have and let them carry me threw my journey.
Changes I've made in the last 24 hours to get me on track to meet my goals:
1st - I put on my pedometer and did a speedy lap around Greenlake with Laine Wednesday evening. Approx. 6,000 steps woo hoo! My goal each day is to hit 10,000 steps and with my regular routine at work yesterday and then the lake walk I was over and above that daily goal. For those interested I'll be walking every Wednesday evening around greenlake this summer to get ready for that 1/2 marathon in November and would love the company.
2nd - I started tracking points this morning again...if I follow the plan it works, amazing right?!?! This can be challenging over the weekend, but I'm hoping to stay inspired and focused and I'll report back how I did.
3rd- I signed up with New Roots Organic to receive a bin of fruits and veggies delivered to my door ever other week. I have two friends who are already using this service and they have really enjoyed the produce and the new recipes they have been encouraged to try with all the fun new foods they have received and never cooked with before. Once our bin starts to come it will be good motivation to eat better foods, in the meantime I'll need to make a trip to the store to stock up on some veggies and fruits.
